KAITO
Chinese Style Ver.

Thank you very much for selecting my entry as the Grand Prize winner in the 5th Hatsune Miku × GSC Illustration Contest, “Chinese Style”, featuring KAITO.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have my artwork turned into a figure. At the same time, knowing that this was a contest in which so many people participated with such passion, I am deeply humbled by the responsibility that comes with having my work selected.

For the “Chinese Style” theme, I limited the color palette to three colors—white, blue, and gold—and challenged myself to create a design that would bring out KAITO’s appeal to the fullest while expressing a dignified and elegant beauty. I was truly delighted that the judges seemed to accurately understand and appreciate the ideas and intentions I had put into the design, and their comments have become a treasured keepsake for me.

The other day, I had the opportunity to see the actual figure at “Magical Mirai 2026” in TOKYO, and I was completely overwhelmed with emotion seeing KAITO standing on the other side of the acrylic case. The delicate balance of colors and elegant world I had envisioned in my illustration had been faithfully brought to life. The beautiful rounded shape of his head, the soft, fluffy texture of his hair, and the realistic sense of movement in his outfit as it gently billows in the breeze all came through exactly as I had imagined.

What surprised me most of all was the contrast between KAITO’s smooth, matte appearance and the snake, whose scales were rendered with a glossy finish reminiscent of porcelain. The contrast between these two distinct textures was breathtakingly beautiful, and I could admire the figure from every angle without ever tiring of it.

Seeing my two-dimensional illustration brought to life and transformed into something with the unique charm of a three-dimensional figure right before my eyes was an incredibly joyful and precious experience.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who took the time to understand the details and ideas I had put into my design, and who brought this exquisite figure to life with exceptional skill and the utmost passion.
